The midpoint of the composite scale sits between 17 and 18. A score of 17 sits at the 47th percentile, and 18 sits at the 52nd. About half of recent graduates got 17 or below.

How to read the ACT scores chart

Find your score in the left column first. Look in the first table for how many right answers each section takes to reach your score. The second table shows how your score compares with other students.

Certain scores have no row of right answers. One more right answer in English on this form moves you from 29 to 31, so an English raw score never lands on 30, 32 or 34. Each real test form has its own chart, so treat the numbers here as close estimates for any other form.
